High School Transition Specialist: Vacancy

High School Transition Specialist
Hours: 32-40 hours per week; some nights/weekends required to meet the demands of participants work schedule  
Pay Rate: $18-$22 per hour
 

Now Hiring! Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement actively seeking High School Transition Specialist. A High School Transition Specialist is responsible for providing community-based vocational support services to students with disabilities, within the Dane County Area, in partnership with the high school system. These services include: individual classes, job shadows, temporary work training, job coaching, job development and placement, job carving, vocational counseling and support, skills training, communicating with employers and problem solving. As a High School Transition Specialist, you will be working with a team of individuals supporting the high school student through career exploration, graduation and life after high school. High School Transition Specialists develop relationships with local businesses and communicate with employers regarding participant’s performance. The High School Transition Specialist works with other treatment providers, parents and high school transition teams to coordinate services and insure job retention. The High School Transition Specialist is responsible for keeping all documentation accurate and up to date, including: progress notes, hour logs, and releases of information. Feist VCP uses the evidence based practice, and prides itself in timely, professional support.

Qualifications:
  • Strong commitment to principles of working with individuals with disabilities
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Psychology, Human Services, or related field
  • Ability to communicate in a timely manner with treatment team: case managers, teachers, DVR counselors, IRIS management agencies, parents and all other parties involved with job retention.
  • Experience working in vocational or employment development in placement
  • Ability to evaluate and problem solve about disability and job-related concerns
  • Sensitivity to the needs of underserved adults with multiple barriers to employment
  • Creativity, organization, efficiency, flexibility and ability to take initiative; must be able to work independently
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation systems in Dane County
  • Ability to create and maintain professional barriers
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a car to use for work and current automobile insurance

Job Title: Job Coach 
Hours: Part Time; Nights and Weekends Preferred
 Pay Range: $15 per hour
Start Date: Hours per week; 10 (minimum) to 30 (maximum)

Now Hiring! Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement actively seeking Job Coaches, to work with our clients at their work site. A Job Coach must be a mentor eager to support individuals with disabilities. You must be able to discover people’s strengths and weaknesses and assist in determining what works best for them in pursuing their vocational and life goals. Having effective communication skills partnered with critical thinking and problem solving are prerequisites for this job.

Job Description:
  • Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively 
  • Guide clients to complete job tasks
  • Help in development of motivation and skills
  • Assist people with disabilities in developing social and life skills
  • Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of clients
  • Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports in accommodation to the State of Wisconsin Vocational Rehabilitation

Turning Point Advisor: No-Vacancy

Job Coach: Turning Point Advisor 
Hours: Full Time Position
Benefits: Full benefit package including 401K, vacation time, and health care stipend  
Pay Range: $40,000-$45,000 per year 
Start Date: July 1, 2020 

Now Hiring! Turning Point is a NEW transition academy geared towards helping individuals with disabilities learn independent living skills and work in the Madison community. This is a 9-month program, that runs September through May. The program will include classroom style teaching in the morning, followed by paid work experience in the community. The goal of the program is to increase independent living skills and establish meaningful work. Do you want the opportunity to be a part of something new, and much needed in the Madison community? Then this is your chance, to join an established employment agency, Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement, in implementing a new Business Endeavor.

Job Duties:
  •  Develop and implement Turning Point Curriculum, in tandem with My Full LIfe Curriculum 
  •  Conduct lesson plans on a daily basis, including group activities, guest speakers, field 
  • trips and more! 
  •  Assist in goal planning and progress meetings with students and their treatment teams 
  • ensuring goals are met 
  • Track progress, and provide constructive feedback to participants 
  • Cultivate relationships with local area employers, to continue Internship and Permanent  Job Placement  
  •  Complete necessary internship paperwork and documentation 
  •  Host Open House, social activities and participate in local events to market and network for Turning Point 
  •  Work collaboratively and provide supervision to a team of Turning Point Trainers, that  will provide supports to participants at their work sites 
Qualifications:
  • Ability to facilitate and implement curriculum to a group of 12-15 students with disabilities
  • Have a basic understanding of disabilities, symptoms, medications, behaviormanagement and strength-based perspective in skill building
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking, goal planning sessions andworking with local employers
  •  Ability to work in a classroom setting and community employment setting, inter changeably throughout each day
  • Natural ability to develop trusting relationships with participants and their families
  • Strong desire to create, implement and re-assess program’s core functions
  • Ability to provide classroom management, trouble shoot and manage interpersonal concerns among participants
  • Have a positive “can-do” attitude
